Brihattrayi a classical textbook of Ayurveda, considered as most authentic and standard references for Ayurveda. It’s also called as ‘Elite three of Ayurveda’ or the ‘Greater Trio of Ayurveda’ or ‘Brihattrayi. Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, Ashtanga Sangraha and Ashtanga Hridaya are known as ‘Brihattrayi’. In Samhita numbers of Medicinal plants are prescribed in various disease conditions. Among them, Yashtimadhu is a widely used medicine which is commonly known as ‘Mulethi’. A huge number of formulations are given in Brihattrayi which contain Yashtimadhu as one of the ingredients. In the present review an attempt was made to highlight the available Kalpana and their indication in which Yashtimadhu mentioned as one of the ingredient which will helpful for people to easily track out various Yastimadhu Kalpana and their uses, and it’s straight forward the way of Chikitsa.
